Zakelemi, Throne of Hope

Another piece from my IP that I'm building. I'm so happy with this one, I put everything I had into capturing a feeling of desperation within every aspect of this illustration!!

"I was given one wish and I wasted it on allowing myself to live. Now I find myself wishing for happiness. In doing so I committed the worst crime of all, to hope. I will pay my due for scarring my heart, I won't stop until it forgives me."

In this universe, a rare few people consumed by a singular feeling have been touched by a being from beyond and made into said mindset's incarnation. Zakelemi is the embodiment of hope turned desperation. He finds himself ruminating on a pedestal that he has no strength to walk away from. Everytime the yearning hurts too much, the liquid pouring out of the statue above reaches down to him, wrapping itself around his neck and giving him a terrible choice. No matter how many times he goes through with it, there is no end to his hurt, suffering cannot end with more suffering. He must make peace within himself, to hope for better while accepting the now.
